Set up your PageID symbol
PageID gives this browser a random symbol. The genuine PageID pill at the top of verified websites will always show it, with your own phrase. A pill that doesn't show your symbol and text is fake. You set it up once.
Your old symbol can't be read any more (PageID replaced the key that protected it). Set up again: you'll get a new symbol.
Privacy: we store nothing about you. Your symbol and phrase live only in a cookie in this browser, encrypted. PageID keeps no copy, no list of people and no record of which sites you visit. A new browser, or cleared cookies, simply means setting up again.
This is your symbol
Your phrase:
This is YOUR symbol in this browser. PageID will never ask you to type or say your symbol.
Your symbol and text appear in the PageID pill at the top of verified sites. If the pill doesn't show YOUR symbol and text, it isn't PageID.
Tap “Verify ↗” in the pill (or press and hold the small icon) to open PageID's own site: it shows your symbol and your phrase again, and the address bar shows .
Test it
- PageID's demo page · the genuine pill comes down at the top: it must show your symbol and text
- A fake page · imitations of the pill without your symbol: learn what fake looks like
- A fake site: a-fake-site.com · a made-up website with fake login buttons and its own fake pill: it can only guess your symbol, never show your text, and PageID refuses its click
Change your phrase
Reset my symbol
Gives this browser a new random symbol and wipes your phrase (you type a new one). The old symbol is gone for good.
